Overview
Senior Price Reporter, EMEA Oil at S&P Global Commodity Insights. The London-based oil pricing team is a dynamic group responsible for key pricing benchmarks. The price reporter will work across oil markets with colleagues in London and globally, in an often fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities And Impact
- Assess markets: Rotate between oil market teams to assess the value of crude oil and oil products in Europe and Africa in line with Platts\’ methodology; survey market participants; publish price updates; ensure our methodology is up to date; may launch new assessments and represent Platts at industry events.
- Write high-quality market commentaries: Write commentaries associated with oil market assessments; ensure commentaries meet editorial standards for writing and reporting.
- Report news about the markets: Report news and analysis; develop ideas for graphics, podcasts, webinars; cover topics including supply and demand developments, government data, regulatory changes, trade flows, price trends, energy transition; collaborate with the news desk and the Price Reporting Manager to publish insightful stories.
- Engage with the industry: Build and nurture market sources; maintain up-to-date source lists; send summaries of meetings to the manager and immediate colleagues.
- Team player: Work closely with London-based oil teams and interact with global offices in Singapore, Houston and New York.
Basic Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree
- Understanding of physical oil markets
- Strong numeracy skills including algebra and statistics; ability to apply basic maths in MS Excel
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with a wide range of role types and personalities
- Strong spoken and written English
- Ability to perform to tight deadlines
- Team-oriented, collaborative
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
