About the Role:

The Team: Product Platform Design (PPD) is responsible for the design, build, and evolution of SPDJI’s core product platforms that support index creation, calculation, rebalance, analytics, and distribution. PPD operates using a product-led, service-based delivery model and is organised into value streams aligned to major business domains. The team works closely with Index Management, R&D, Operations, and Technology to deliver scalable, reusable platforms that support the full index lifecycle across asset classes.

This role sits within the Equity value stream and will focus on the data functionality embedded within T3, SPDJI’s core equity index calculation platform. T3 supports key parts of the index lifecycle, including corporate actions, data capture, validation, transformation, and rebalance implementation.

The team is evolving its platforms to improve automation, simplify legacy processes, and align with the broader Data Platforms strategy where appropriate. This creates an opportunity for a Product Owner / Business Analyst who can connect business needs, data dependencies, operational workflows, and technology delivery in a practical and structured way.

The Impact: We are recruiting a Technical Product Owner – Equity Calculation and Data to help shape and deliver enhancements across equity index calculation and related data capabilities. This is a hybrid Product Owner / Business Analyst role, working closely with the Value Stream Lead and agile delivery teams to define priorities, translate requirements, and support delivery of platform improvements.

The successful candidate will play a significant role in improving efficiency within the equity index calculation domain by using product ownership, business analysis, and analytical judgement to simplify complex workflows, improve data quality, and support more scalable platform delivery.

This role requires someone who can work with incomplete or evolving information, identify practical options, and communicate complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. The individual will also be expected to build strong relationships across PPD, Index Management, R&D, Operations, Technology, and Data Platform teams, influencing peers and immediate leadership to achieve defined goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with the Value Stream Lead on roadmap input, prioritisation, and delivery planning.
  • Gather, analyse, and translate business requirements into epics, features, user stories, and clear acceptance criteria.
  • Own and manage the agile team backlog in Azure DevOps (ADO), ensuring work is clearly defined, prioritised, and ready for delivery.
  • Work closely with Index Management, R&D, Operations, Technology, and Data Platform teams to understand requirements, dependencies, and delivery impacts.
  • Act as a translator between business and technology teams, tailoring communication for different audiences and simplifying complex information.
  • Support agile ceremonies, including refinement, planning, reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Perform hands-on user acceptance testing (UAT) to confirm delivered functionality meets business requirements.
  • Assess embedded and legacy data processes within T3 and identify opportunities to improve automation, reduce manual effort, and simplify operational workflows.
  • Use analytical judgement to evaluate different solution options, make recommendations, and influence stakeholder buy-in based on business value, risk, and delivery impact.
  • Identify cross-platform dependencies and collaborate with other Product Owners across PPD to support alignment and avoid fragmented ownership.
  • Support longer-term platform evolution while balancing short-term operational stability and business continuity.
  • Contribute professional expertise to help improve team knowledge, support junior colleagues where appropriate, and model S&P Global’s purpose and values in day-to-day work.

All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a Product Owner, Business Analyst, or hybrid PO/BA in an agile environment.
  • Strong understanding of index products, index calculation workflows, and operational processes.
  • Experience working with data-heavy platforms, workflows, or systems where data ingestion, validation, transformation, and quality are important to business outcomes.
  • Comfortable engaging in technical discussions and translating complex requirements into clear, actionable delivery items.
  • Experience managing backlogs using ADO or equivalent tools.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess requirements, identify dependencies, and recommend practical solutions.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams and influence peers and immediate leadership.
  • Ability to work effectively with incomplete, changing, or conflicting information and identify options in non-routine situations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to integrate and communicate complex information within a specialist business or technology area.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work, manage priorities effectively, and leverage wider team input to support successful delivery.

We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in financial services, indexing, market data, reference data, corporate actions, or related investment data domains.
  • Familiarity with equity index calculation platforms, rebalance processes, or data dependencies that support index production.
  • Experience identifying process improvements, automation opportunities, or platform simplification initiatives.
  • Ability to connect day-to-day product delivery with broader platform strategy and operational efficiency goals.
  • Comfortable collaborating across product, technology, operations, and data teams in a multi-team delivery model.
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset, with the ability to proactively seek out new information, relevant data, and opportunities for innovation.
