S&P Global Institute is seeking a Director of Narrative & Content to shape and project the voice of the Institute. In an environment where attention is scarce, AI intermediates information, executives consume ideas in multiple formats, the Director of Narrative and Content orchestrates how the Institute’s research and insights are framed, connected and communicated so they become influential ideas rather than standalone publications. This role translates complex, cross-divisional insight and research into compelling, trusted narratives for the world’s most influential decision-makers. It enables high-impact enterprise thought leadership by shaping the Institute’s editorial voice and leveraging the latest distribution channels and AI-enabled tools.

The successful candidate will bring exceptional executive-level storytelling capability, and a proven ability to translate complex research insights into decision-relevant stories. They will combine a collaborative mindset with strong influencing skills, to partner across with the Institute’s research fellows, division SMEs, Editorial, Design & Publishing (EDP), Chief Marketing Office (CMO), Chief Client Office (CCO), communications and senior leadership.

  • Collaborative influence across matrixed organizations: Builds trust and alignment with the Institute research fellows, who drive the research agenda, and the divisional SMEs, to amplify the Institute’s voice; develops tight partnership with the editorial, marketing and communications teams through well-developed stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Strategic and creative problem-solving: Brings an innovative mindset and data-driven assessment of opportunity to enhance the voice of the Institute in line with its overall strategy and business goals.
  • Emerging channels and AI fluency: Keeps pace with agentic distribution models, generative engine optimization (GEO), and AI-enabled tools; identifies, tests, and scales formats that extend the reach of Institute insights.
Responsibilities
  • Institute Narrative & Editorial Leadership: Define the narrative “throughlines” that connect research, leadership perspective, and market reality into an influential S&P Global point of view, based on the research agenda defined by the Head of the Institute and Research Fellows. Translate complex research into accessible storytelling and manage the institute's editorial voice. Work in partnership with divisions to elevate their research into enterprise-relevant narratives, while preserving divisional ownership of underlying analysis, data and authorship.
  • Flagship Content and Enablement: Amplify the impact of the Institute’s research with the market’s key decision-makers by leveraging a range of tools including flagship reports, digital formats, video, podcasts, executive briefings, AI/GEO discoverability, media content, in partnership with content marketing, communication teams. Align the Institute’s key publications with enterprise flagship events and programming.
  • Emerging Channels, AI-Enabled Tools, and Agentic Distribution: Identify, test, and leverage emerging channels, formats, and distribution models that increase the visibility and engagement of the Institute’s insights. Leverage AI-enabled tools to accelerate content adaptation, increase discoverability, and support scaling, by leveraging the latest developments on agentic distribution models and GEO/AI-era visibility standards, in partnership with the demand generation and technology teams.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Works in close partnership with the Head of the S&P Global Institute and the Research Fellows, who define the research agenda, to shape the voice of the Institute on agreed priorities through publications and external positioning. Collaborate with EDP and Communications on the Institute’s editorial style and risk management guardrails. Work closely with CCO, CMO, and Marketing on strategies for producing highly visible and digestible content aligned with clients’ main focus of interest. Engage divisional SMEs for voice, contribution, and validation.
Compensation and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $150,481 to $263,788 USD. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographic location, as well as experience level, skill set, training, licenses and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan. This role is eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.

What We’re Looking For
  • Basic Required Qualifications: 10+ years of relevant experience in editorial leadership, thought leadership, content strategy, or a related domain within S&P’s core areas of expertise, research, media, or professional services.
  • Exceptional writer with demonstrated ability to craft compelling executive-level narratives that distill complex research and data into clear, resonant stories for senior audiences.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and influence across cross-functional teams, including research, editorial, marketing, communications, and events, without direct authority.
  • Track record of driving content reach and impact through modern distribution channels, including emerging digital and AI-enabled platforms.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities, including the ability to align and influence senior leaders, divisional partners, and external stakeholders.
