The S&P Enterprise Data Management Team (EDM) is looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join a global team of Cloud Engineers to support our data management platform used for acquiring, validating and distributing trade, operational, risk, financial and customer data.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Deep knowledge of AWS technologies such as EC2, ELB, S3, VPC, EBS, RDS, AMIs, IAM, FSX, Active Directory, DNS, CloudWatch, Lambda, ECS/EKS etc.
  • 5‑8 years of experience in a highly complex technical AWS operations environment with expertise on supporting Windows 2016/2019/2022 server environments.
  • Networking administration experience, good understanding of VPN, Peering, Routing, NACL, ALB/NLB, Security Groups, Access Control.
  • Good to have experience with configuration and deployment management in a scripting language like Ansible. Knowledge of AWS Cloud formation/Azure DevOps/Terraform helpful to run multi‑server application stacks.
  • MS SQL Server – Standard and Enterprise deployment setup and understanding of HA setups.
  • Person should be open to work in rotational shift including weekends and holidays.
  • MS Remote Desktop Services – Remote Desktop Gateway and broker.
  • Relevant experience as a systems administrator in a systems operation’s role.
  • Ability to work with virtualization technology.
  • Ability to translate architectural requirements.
  • Managing cloud environments in accordance with company security guidelines.
  • Ability to deploy, manage, and operate scalable, highly available, and fault‑tolerant systems.
  • Experience in monitoring and auditing systems.
  • Working with our engineering team to identify and implement the most optimal cloud‑based solutions for the Hosted and Managed Services cloud platform.
  • Be responsible for the planning, implementation and growth of the AWS cloud hosted infrastructure.
  • Work alongside architecture and product engineering teams to design and implement any scalable software services.
  • Orchestrating and automating cloud‑based platforms throughout the platform team.
  • Stay current with new technology options and vendor products, evaluating which ones would be a good fit for the company.
  • Building and designing web services in the cloud, along with implementing the set‑up of geographically redundant services.
  • Define and document best practices and strategies regarding application deployment and infrastructure maintenance.
  • Knowhow to implement and control the flow of data, to and from a service provider.
  • Capability to select the appropriate services based on compute, data, or security requirements.
  • Ability to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms.
  • Responsible for engaging various business stakeholders in achieving objectives (product DevOps teams, Cloud Operations for BAU, customers).

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

  • University degree, preferably engineering graduate or equivalent.
  • Strong communication skills are needed to describe hosted offerings, and solutions across a wide range of requirements, and convey different levels from management to clients.
  • Proven track record of supporting cloud hosted windows‑based applications.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong problem‑solving skills with a growth mindset and openness to AI‑powered innovation.
  • Excellent communication and cross‑functional collaboration abilities.
  • Capable of managing priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast‑paced, continuously evolving environment.

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of practical experience in AWS Cloud Administration preferably AWS certified Solutions Architect or Equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills, presentation skills, and ability to work under pressure.
  • Proven experience in monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing large‑scale distributed systems in a cloud environment.
  • Background in managing Windows‑based production systems, network configurations, and server performance in the cloud.
  • Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python) — bonus if paired with AI‑based infrastructure tools.
  • AWS certification or similar credentials are a plus.
  • Experience explaining technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
