About the Role:

The Team: This team leads the development of strategies around Global Gas, Power, ET & Policy News for Commodity Insights to drive growth and create customer value. The team shapes, monitors and assists our fast-paced daily news coverage and provides insights from across the commodities industry. The team also edits news and pricing content, along with running “showcase content” such as videos, data visualizations and podcasts. The team works collaboratively across the globe, with a culture of respect and trust, and is at the forefront of technological innovations, including the development and deployment of AI-based workflow tools. The team works across divisions to identify and develop coverage planning and obligations for all commodities news across S&P Global platforms and publications. This role will also serve as an expert at internal and external events and will report to the S&P Global Energy Platts news lead.

Responsibilities and Impact:

  • Leads and develops the global Gas, Power, ET & Policy News team
  • Drives cross-commodity news coverage aligning publishing priorities with business line priorities
  • Ensures real-time news and insights stands out from the competition
  • Ensures Commodity Insights news efforts reflect the very latest in technological advances, including innovations in data visualization and AI tools
  • Drives compliance to policies and cross commodity training operations for the teams
  • Responsible for market engagement, ensuring that our products are relevant, innovative and create customer value
  • Provides leadership and escalation in handling any major news issues

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience in journalistic role in the commodities market with a deep understanding of the trading community / key business stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of market assessments, price reporting across energy and commodity markets.
  • Proven leadership skills leading, engaging, and motivating global teams undergoing change.
  • Strong change management skills.
  • Proven record of creative problem solving and collaboration across separate working groups.
  • Experience of managing up and down to organize team development and progress.
  • Ability to develop and set strategy and translate ideas into targets and clear action plans.
  • Strong execution skills.
  • A strong track record of innovation in content, technology and tools around the news and insights space.
  • Proven strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and ability to navigate a complex matrix structure and influence at high levels within organizations.
