Grade Level (for internal use): 09

The Team: Analytic Quality & Validation (AQV) is a control function of S&P Global Ratings that assesses the ratings methodologies, models, and analyses used to assign credit ratings. The AQV team comprises credit analysts and model specialists with experience in credit ratings and the capital markets. The Review Analyst will participate in risk-based activities and contribute to the team\\\'s validation activities. This position appeals to a diligent, analytical self-starter with a strong work ethic and a drive to succeed. The Review Analyst will support a global, multi-cultural team in evaluating the quality of ratings methodologies, models, and analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of assigned Management, perform some or all of the following:
  • Test and validate quantitative financial-based models and engines.
  • Interact with relevant staff to gather model-related information and clarify queries.
  • Conduct validation and credit review activities using qualitative credit skills and statistical/quantitative analyses in evaluating ratings performance.
  • Test the soundness of criteria assumptions and calibrate ratings outcomes against established benchmarks and definitions.
  • Conduct and interpret sector research to identify key credit trends/risks and apply insights to improve validation processes.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze complex, non-routine analytical/business problems swiftly and insightfully.
  • Assist in producing well-written reports and presentations to review bodies, including senior management, to defend conclusions and present findings.
  • Display clear, concise writing, strong verbal skills, and attentive listening abilities.
  • Manage multiple deliverables while meeting regular deadlines.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor\\\'s degree in Financial Engineering/quantitative finance, Math, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, Economics, or other relevant program.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in the Financial Services industry (typical for this level).
  • Proficiency with Excel/VBA and R/Python for model validation.
  • Strong communication skills: clear writing, concise speaking, and active listening.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative, and able to adapt to a diverse team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Advanced Degree or CFA is a plus.
  • Experience in model validation and development, with a strong understanding of quantitative finance and statistical analysis.
  • Relevant work experience in credit analysis of debt/capital markets, credit analysis/research.
  • Proficient programming skills in SAS, MATLAB, or C++.

Salary and Benefits

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $69,661 to $89,706, with final base salary based on geographic location, experience, skills, training, licenses, and certifications.
