We’re hiring a Product Designer to lead the user experience of Spark Assist, an enterprise GenAI tool scaling across S&P Global. This is a strategic, hands‑on role for a designer who has shipped real products inside a financial services company or fintech startup, and who is comfortable operating with autonomy at the intersection of AI, financial workflows, and rapid iteration.

You’ll partner directly with leadership and customers to shape Spark Assist’s direction, run user research, and help scope the design roadmap and team growth. You’ll set the bar for what an intuitive, trustworthy, and genuinely useful enterprise‑grade AI tool looks like.

Kensho is S&P Global’s hub for AI innovation and transformation, building intelligent products that empower financial professionals to work smarter, faster, and with deeper insight. Our teams design and deliver AI‑driven tools that help analysts, researchers, and decision‑makers turn complex information into clarity and action.

We hire talented people and give them the autonomy and support to build remarkable technology and user experiences. We operate with startup instinct inside a global financial institution: short cycles, urgency, resourcefulness, and as little process as possible so good ideas can travel from concept to impact in days, not quarters.

Spark Assist is S&P Global’s internal GenAI tool, a productivity layer used across the company to accelerate research, analysis, and day‑to‑day knowledge work for over 44,000 users. As the design lead for Spark Assist, you’ll own the experience end‑to‑end: interaction patterns for conversational and agentic AI, surfacing trust and explainability, and designing for the specific demands of financial professionals working with sensitive, high‑stakes information.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead design strategy and execution for Spark Assist across web and (where relevant) mobile surfaces, from early concepts through high‑fidelity production.
  • Partner with the Heads of Product and Engineering as a strategic thought partner, shaping roadmap priority, framing problems, and pushing back directly when the design case requires it.
  • Plan and run user research with internal analysts, researchers, and other Kensho users: discovery interviews, concept testing, and usability studies. Translate findings into design decisions and product direction.
  • Define interaction patterns specific to GenAI: streaming and loading states, confidence and uncertainty indicators, error handling, feedback loops, and progressive disclosure of complex outputs.
  • Prototype quickly. Use code, or vibe coding, to build interactive prototypes, test hypotheses, and prove intent more precisely than traditional product design workflows allow.
  • Scope, brief, and review work across design and development. Set quality bars and maintain coherence.
  • Contribute to and evolve our design system so Spark Assist and adjacent products stay consistent without becoming generic.
  • Champion transparency, explainability, and responsible AI in everything that ships, including accessibility and the trust signals financial users need to act on AI output.

What You’ll Need

  • 4–7 years of product design experience, with at least part of that time inside a financial services company, fintech, or finance‑adjacent startup. You understand how analysts, researchers, or other financial professionals actually work.
  • A portfolio showing strategic range, not just polished screens, but evidence of framing ambiguous problems, shaping product direction, and shipping at pace.
  • Demonstrated experience designing for AI or data‑dense products. Familiarity with LLM‑based interfaces (chat, agents, generative tools) and the design challenges they introduce.
  • Hands‑on research skills. You’ve planned, run, or been a core part of user research studies.
  • Coding or vibe‑coding fluency: comfortable in HTML/CSS, prototyping in Figma Make, Claude Code, or similar, enough to build interactive prototypes and collaborate substantively with data and engineering.
  • Strong financial industry context: familiarity with sell‑side or buy‑side workflows, market data, research distribution, or related domains is a meaningful plus.
  • Expert in Figma and modern design system practice.
  • Excellent communication. You can hold the room with the Head of Product, brief a contractor, give and receive direct feedback, and write a research readout that drives a decision.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a strong bias toward shipping. You’d rather get a v1 in front of users this week than a v3 next quarter.

What Gets Our Attention

  • Experience designing GenAI and/or productivity tools at a financial institution or fintech.
  • A thoughtful point of view on UX patterns for LLMs and agentic systems.
  • Background in HCI, cognitive science, or a related discipline.
  • Track record of mentoring designers or managing external contractors.
  • Genuine curiosity about how AI is reshaping financial workflows.
