The Price Reporter (Associate Editor) for EMEA Freight Markets is responsible for day‑to‑day reporting on the shipping and freight markets in the Western hemisphere. The role includes collecting and publishing primary market information, running an assessment process, assessing the value of a variety of markets, reporting market‑related news, writing commentary and analysis, contributing to methodology development and engaging with market sources.

Responsibilities

  • Assess freight markets: survey market participants throughout the day, publish price updates, demonstrate a thorough understanding of S&P Global Energy's methodology and keep it up to date, perform rigorous mathematics and Excel spreadsheet work and be able to do a full set of assessments without the aid of a spreadsheet.
  • Write high‑quality market commentaries that help readers understand market developments and the rationale behind assessments.
  • Report news about the markets: publish analysis on supply and demand developments, government data, new regulations, trader movement news, and general price trend analysis.
  • Engage with the industry: find and nurture new market sources, maintain good relationships with existing sources and keep source lists up to date.
