About the Role: The Team: Within the S&P Global Market Intelligence Commercial organization, Industry Product Specialists are expected to identify, analyze, and propose solutions relating to specific products and services. Within our product suite, Industry Product Specialists are domain and knowledge experts.

Focus: We focus on providing clients an in-depth and consultative approach to Metals & Mining, Energy & Power client workflow solutions to drive the adoption and usage on the Capital IQ Pro Desktop.

The Impact: Your role drives revenue growth through client adoption, retention, and growth working with Commercial Teams, Product Management, Client Operations, Insight, and Marketing teams to promote Market Intelligence’s Metals & Mining, Energy & Power products, data content and delivery business, and other services across all client segments.

Responsibilities:

  • Possess a firm understanding of the diagnostic sales process and employ its principles and techniques when engaging with a prospect or client.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the Metals & Mining, Energy, & 451 Research offerings.
  • Conduct advanced S&P Global Metals & Mining, Energy & Power product demonstrations and trainings that are specific to client workflows, helping to design the best solution to fit a prospect or client need.
  • Learn and understand new Metals & Mining, Energy & Power enhancements, relevant datasets, workflow solutions as they are deployed through our platforms, and communicate the advantages of these products and datasets effectively to clients, prospects, and colleagues.
  • Drive significant increases in usage and adoption of S&P Global Metals & Mining, Energy & Power desktop, Excel add-in, content, research, and feed solutions with a strong focus on renewal rate.
  • Explain complex Metals & Mining, Energy & Power workflows, conduct trainings and demonstrations, troubleshoot problems, answer product/research report questions, and work on proof‑of‑concept projects to ensure that clients and prospects have the tools that will make their experience a success.
  • Assist the trial process with a thorough understanding of the client’s workflow, and how S&P Global Metals & Mining, Energy & Power solutions may enhance that workflow.
  • Develop a complete understanding of competitors’ products and articulate S&P Global Metals & Mining, Energy & Power competitive differentiation, relative capabilities, and value.
  • Consolidate regional market feedback for product development/enhancement.
  • Contribute to S&P Global Metals & Mining, Energy & Power Go‑To‑Market efforts and marketing campaigns.
  • Partner with key stakeholders such as Product Management, Excel Modeling, Metals & Mining, Energy, TMT & 451 Research teams, etc. and collaborate across borders with other Industry Product Specialists.
  • Collaborate with the above teams on thought leadership, discovering new workflows and market entry strategies.
  • Represent S&P Global externally to clients, conferences, and at industry events. Some regional and international travel is required as appropriate.

What We’re Looking For:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of at least one of the segments we serve and the Metals & Mining, Energy & Power specialized solutions.
  • Firm understanding of workflow solutions within S&P Global’s Capital IQ Pro Metals & Mining, Energy & Power platform and/or other financial data vendor.
  • A mixture of Finance, business, commercial and technical skills are necessary.
  • 3+ years of experience in Metals & Mining, Energy & Power data and research industry, 7‑10 years total experience.
  • English language fluency required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Independent, self‑starter capable of working without close supervision or daily guidance.
  • An understanding of the importance of careful attention to documenting activities.
  • A high level of client service, exceptional verbal communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Constructive team player, capable of balancing and prioritizing multiple projects across different teams, business segments, geographic boundaries.
  • Proven experience and ability to apply the core concepts of our diagnostic sales methodology.
  • Demonstrates drive, initiative, energy and sense of urgency.
  • Passion for data‑driven analytic solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of the equity, fixed income/credit or industry specific investment process (with a focus on either quantitative or qualitative security analysis).
  • Prior experience in selling to or interacting with the types of firms and individual personas we target is highly desirable.
  • Strong level of computer skills including MS Office proficiency; programming, databases, computer science and other specific skills are highly desirable for some roles.
  • French, German, or Spanish language fluency is an asset.
