About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 10 The Team: The sales team is seeking a credible and dynamic individual who will thrive on working with accounts where decision makers are business heads in the financial markets. Operating as a cohesive unit, the team values collaborative problem-solving, knowledge sharing and proactive engagement to achieve shared objectives.

Impact

This role will require broad experience in financial markets, software, data and knowledge of capital creation. With a proactive hunter mindset, you will generate new business while building and managing complex relationships and leading large, strategic deals. By delivering against these objectives, you will directly influence our market presence and contribute to broader business growth. You will use your experience and commercial judgement to navigate non-routine situations, communicate complex information clearly and identify effective solutions for clients.

Responsibilities

  • Drive sales of S&P Global’s Sales and Trading and Capital Markets products and services.
  • Own the full sales process, from identifying and qualifying opportunities through to negotiating and closing deals.
  • Carry a sales quota and manage the sales pipeline, forecasting activity and revenue performance to ensure that high-priority opportunities receive the appropriate focus.
  • Manage and grow a current book of business while developing new business within a defined territory.
  • Build and maintain trusted relationships with senior business decision makers across the financial markets, using active listening and strong market knowledge to understand their priorities and challenges.
  • Clearly demonstrate product value, communicate compelling client-specific value propositions and collaborate with Account Management, Product Marketing and other internal stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
  • Travel to multiple European territories as required.
  • All employees are required to work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Basic Required Qualifications

  • An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5+ years of experience in selling data and/or software to the following business areas: Fixed Income/Equity Capital Markets and Syndicate, Fixed Income/Equity Research Sales and Trading, and Corporate Access.
  • A proven track record of exceeding sales quotas and successfully managing large, complex deals within financial markets.
  • Strong relationships with key business leaders across capital markets, syndication, sales trading and research, technology and banking.
  • Experience selling desktop solutions or data products to buy-side and sell-side clients.
  • Strong understanding of the full sales process, including lead generation, prospecting, opportunity management, negotiation and closing.
  • Strong CRM skills, preferably Salesforce.
  • Demonstrated emotional intelligence, resilience and adaptability, with the ability to remain focused through setbacks, prioritise high-impact work and identify solutions in complex or non-routine sales situations.
  • We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.

Additional Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience selling multiple data and software solutions across buy-side and sell-side institutions.
  • Strong negotiation and networking capabilities, ideally supported by formal sales or negotiation training.
  • Deep understanding of S&P Global’s Capital Markets products and services, including the ability to demonstrate product offerings and articulate their value proposition.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, resolve competing priorities and build effective cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to influence colleagues and leadership, provide guidance or support to junior team members and contribute to their development.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain complex ideas clearly and negotiate effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Ability to stay informed about financial-market trends, apply market knowledge to client solutions and identify opportunities to support innovation.
