Overview
SP Energy Networks plays a critical role in shaping and powering a Net Zero future. As our Stakeholder Engagement Manager for SP ManWeb, you will be the driving force behind building meaningful, insight-led relationships across local, regional, and national landscapes. You will support our districts and the broader licence area by amplifying local voices, informing strategic decisions, and ensuring that our work reflects the needs of the communities we serve.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Stakeholder Engagement: Design and deliver a tailored engagement strategy aligned with SPEN\’s INSIGHT > INPUT > IMPACT model. Identify and leverage opportunities to elevate our reputation whilst enhancing influence with industry, government, and regulators.
- Stakeholder Mapping & Intelligence: Maintain dynamic \”Who’s Who\” stakeholder maps using tools like Tractivity, Mapolitical, and internal intelligence sources. Monitor emerging issues, risks, and opportunities through regular intelligence gathering and trend analysis.
- Relationship Management: Act as the relationship lead for stakeholders across SP Manweb. Facilitate connections between external partners and internal teams to ensure effective collaboration and mutual understanding.
- Project and Place-Based Engagement: Support major infrastructure and capital projects with bespoke local engagement strategies. Advise internal teams on stakeholder risks, sensitivities, and opportunities, ensuring local context and feedback directly shape project decisions—not just communications.
- Leadership & Advocacy: Represent stakeholder engagement across internal and external forums and project boards. Champion the value of strategic engagement and advocate for stakeholder-informed decision-making across the business.
Minimum Requirements (Demonstrated Experience & Skills)
- Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, relationship management, or public affairs roles. Experience managing multi-level stakeholder plans and communicating complex issues with clarity.
- Confident using stakeholder systems such as Tractivity, and able to extract insights and intelligence from qualitative data.
- Skilled in influencing and navigating internal teams, with a track record of working across functions to align priorities.
- Comfortable working independently, proactively identifying opportunities, and seeing them through to delivery.
- Knowledge of the UK utilities sector or regulated infrastructure environments. Experience working with local authorities, councils, or community networks.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and credibility with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Track record of supporting complex projects with tailored engagement strategies that reflect local context and stakeholder input.
- Ability to work flexibly and adaptively in a fast-paced environment, balancing strategic priorities with on-the-ground delivery.
