A Fantastic Opportunity: Trainee Fitter
As a Trainee Multi-Skilled Fitter, you will use your hands-on electrical and mechanical skills to help build, install and look after high voltage and low voltage electrical switchgear, transformers and substations. Working as part of a team, you will be required to use safe working processes and follow technical drawings to work across both public and private industrial electrical networks. We aim to complete our work to achieve our customers' budget and on time as this drives our customers’ satisfaction.
The successful candidate will comply with company Health & Safety processes including completion of daily vehicle checks, quarterly equipment calibration, site inductions, annual authorisations, task led point of work risk assessments, safety observations and incident reporting. Maintain a safe, orderly and clean working area including vehicles, plant, site and workshops. You will promote the company’s reputation through a positive attitude and behaviours, good time keeping and a professional appearance.
Inspection of substations and associated equipment, including the completion of accurate test reports within 7 working days. Install and maintain electrical switchgear and transformers in accordance with the company/manufacturer’s quality specifications and within the time allotted for the activity. LV and HV cable installation, jointing and terminations in accordance with the company/manufacturer’s quality specifications and company processes and within the time allotted for the activity. Fault finding and minor remedial repair works, including photographic evidence and reports (as required) on equipment condition. Liaising with customers in organising and arranging work to minimise the impact to their business for both personal access and other ENWCML employees and subcontractors.
The successful candidate must, at the start of employment, have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.
What we’re looking for
- Trained and experienced using hand and power tools to unload, measure, cut to size, put together and bolt/fix down electrical equipment
- Have experience working with Low Voltage and High Voltage electrical system components, plant and equipment, with proven High Voltage fitting and jointing skills
- Hold a City & Guilds Level 3 or equivalent qualification, a recognised Craft Apprenticeship and or Vocational Training equivalent to NVQ level 3
- Hold a valid, full UK driving licence (essential) with categories B + E
