A Fantastic Opportunity: Substation Groundworker Barrow
We are looking for a Grounds Maintenance Operative to help keep SP ENW sites safe, tidy, and fully operational. In this role, you will deliver high quality, cost effective grounds maintenance across substations and key network locations, using authorised equipment to manage vegetation and maintain site standards. You will also carry out overhead line surveys and complete post fault inspections to support the ongoing safety and reliability of the network. Primarily as a lone worker, you will occasionally join wider teams when required, responding quickly to customer complaints, vegetation issues, and fly tipping reports. You will uphold a positive public image while wearing the required PPE.
Safety and professionalism are at the heart of this role. You will apply SP ENW safety policies, complete on site risk assessments, and report safety observations and near misses through our mobile app to support a strong safety culture. You will plan your daily workload to meet SLA targets, operate and maintain powered tools safely, and provide accurate information to assist continuous improvement across the team. Regular training, monthly meetings, and safety briefings will help you stay up to date with industry standards and required authorisations. Candidates should be reliable, efficient, and committed to delivering excellent internal and external customer service. Please note: there may be a requirement to work up to two Saturdays per month.
The successful candidate must, at the start of employment, have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

- H100 Authorisation
- Emergency First Aid at Work
- Strimmer, Mower, Hedge Cutter Courses (NPTC or Lantra)
- PA1 & PA6 (NPTC)
- Use of heat detector camera
- Use of approved live-pole detection device
- Storm Reconnaissance Training and Authorisation
