Opportunity: CAD Technician Do you know your reds from your greens?

We are looking for an Electrical CAD Technician with experience in block cable diagrams, substation layouts and SLD's.

As a CAD Technician you will have an awareness of electrical network design and understanding of the technical drawings and document management control processes.

You will have shared responsibility for managing and updating project design drawings and ensuring your customer is delighted in everything we do.

You will take ownership of and proactively seek support and resolution of any connectivity and layout design issues on Customer’s projects including optioneering, discussions with the design engineer and our supply chain.

Ultimately you will ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality and in accordance with health, safety and environment legislation, whilst always providing an excellent service to our customers.

The successful candidate must, at the start of employment have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship.

What we’re looking for We welcome applications from individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences who meet the following criteria:

  • Excellent CAD knowledge and experience specifically using Auto CAD software
  • A good understanding of the electricity distribution network, substation switchgear, transformers, underground networks and metering room layouts
  • An ONC in Electrical and Electronic Engineering as minimum qualification or equivalent would be desirable
  • Proven experience & working knowledge of the production to appropriate standards of Electrical Protection & Control (P&C) Diagrams (SLD’s, KLD’s & Block Cable Diagrams)
  • Proven experience & working knowledge of Implementing and continuous improvement of document issue and control methodology.
  • Knowledge of Electricity Asset Data Records (GIS), and relevant Electricity Specifications
  • Knowledge of electrical modelling software (i. e., ETAP, Digsilent)
  • Experience of working in a Customer Service environment.
