We are looking for a Design & Bid Engineer to join our team in Blackburn to work on the design, estimating and negotiation of LV and HV construction projects within our target markets. These would typically be in the range of £50k to £3M. Converting sales enquiries to construction orders is a key part of the role so ideally, you will be experienced at working in a competitive contracting environment and delivering high quality, technically sound, presentations / bids to clients. The role is based at Blackburn with travel as and when required for site visits and meetings.
What we’re looking for
- Proven design and estimating experience in the HV and/or LV sectors in a competitive environment (essential)
- LV Power Systems Engineer (essential)
- HNC in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
- Good knowledge and experience of 11/6.6kV and 415V systems including the design of switchgear, transformers, underground circuits and protection to DNO and Industry Standards (desirable)
- Familiar with both HV and LV earthing systems (desirable)
- Good understanding of the Construction, Design and Management Regulations 2015
- Excellent IT skills
- Understanding of construction projects and electrical installation practices
- Commercial risk assessment and mitigation experience
- Experience of working directly with customers
- Knowledge of DNO Codes of Practice, BS7671 and relevant industry standards
