Help us create a better future, quicker. Responsible for the planning and design of the district distribution network ensuring system stewardship network security and integrity at all times. Undertaking system analysis to determine load/generation connections, network alterations, reinforcement requirements and to derive solutions in line with Asset Management policies and customer requirements.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Agree the scope, volumes and unit costs to exploit best value from the regulatory contract.
  • Integrate asset stewardship values through sound engineering principles, coordinated planning, design and ownership to improve integrity, safety and longevity of the electrical network whilst providing minimum scheme costs for customer connections.
  • Drive continual performance improvement through analysis of outputs and feedback from internal and external sources.
  • Consider the application of innovative solutions to all designs whether this be technological, procedural or commercial.
  • Produce designs in accordance with unit or authorised prime costs to enable efficient delivery of outputs.
  • Develop and maintain robust stakeholder and customer relationships on behalf of Scottish Power to facilitate delivery of customer and stakeholder strategic objectives.
  • Promote an exemplary safety culture and ensure that all safety legislation is implemented and delivered through all activities and incorporated into project designs.

  • Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
  • Develop working knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation.
  • Awareness of network development policies and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of SPEN Project building and financial systems (PPM and PM).
  • Develop customer service skills.
  • Proactively build knowledge of network and the network management systems.
  • Contract management skills and general commercial & regulatory awareness.
  • Developed negotiation, communication and people management skills.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
  • Working knowledge of Energy Networks IT systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office systems including PowerBi.

Minimum Criteria:

  • Previous experience in a relevant area.
  • Computer literacy – e.g. Microsoft Office suite.
  • Working knowledge of SPEN Project building and financial systems (PPM and PM).
  • Working knowledge of Energy Networks policies, procedures and working practices.
  • An effective and confident written and verbal communicator.
  • Ability to proactively build knowledge.
  • Confidence to work unsupervised.
