Sowena Group is partnering with a well-established, PE-Backed, Logistics business to appoint a Financial Controller. Reporting to the Group Finance Director, this is a broad and hands-on finance leadership role with responsibility for the financial management, control and reporting of multiple operational business units. This role will suit a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys working closely with operational teams and driving improvements across systems, processes and performance. This role is akin to a divisional Head of Finance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Ownership of monthly management accounts, including P&L reporting, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis
- Leading budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and working capital performance
- Ensuring robust financial controls, compliance and statutory reporting requirements are met
- Partnering with senior operational leaders to support decision-making, profitability, margin improvement and cost control
- Providing financial oversight of project-based activities, including WIP, contract accounting and project performance analysis
- Supporting systems enhancements, reporting improvements and wider finance transformation initiatives
- Driving process improvements to increase efficiency, reporting quality and business insight
- Working collaboratively with group finance and wider stakeholders to embed best practice and support continued growth
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with strong financial control and management reporting experience gained within a project-led, operational environment such as construction, engineering, contracting or infrastructure. Experience of improving processes, implementing systems and operating within a changing environment would be highly advantageous.
