We've partnered with a growing manufacturing business in Runcorn, who are seeking a part-qualified accountant to join their team as Assistant Financial Controller. This is a hands-on role with significant development opportunity and a clear pathway to succession within five years, and we are looking for a candidate with the capability and ambition to progress.

Responsibilities

  • Month-End Support: Preparing accruals, prepayments and journal entries to ensure a timely and accurate monthly close.
  • Maintain and improve monthly reporting packs and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and long-range planning, including variance analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Support statutory audit and year-end activities, ensuring robust controls and accurate documentation.
  • Work with operations and commercial teams to strengthen financial understanding and decision-making.
  • Contribute to finance controls, policies and compliance requirements.
  • Assisting with VAT returns and other statutory requirements.

Qualifications

  • Graduate calibre (degree-qualified) with strong academic record.
  • CIMA/ACCA part-qualified or finalist.
  • Experience in a finance role with exposure to management accounts activities.
  • Advanced Excel skills and an analytical mindset; able to translate data into clear, practical insight.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented and able to manage deadlines in a month-end environment.
  • Confident communicator, able to work effectively across finance and non-finance teams.
  • Experience building reports/dashboards in Power BI (or similar BI tools).
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of internal controls and audit requirements.
  • Experience working in a multinational group environment.
