Sowena are partnered with a rapidly scaling tech-led business in Manchester as they look to appoint a Finance Manager into their growing finance function.
Working closely with the CFO and wider leadership team, the successful candidate will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function while helping shape reporting, processes, and commercial decision-making as the business continues to grow.
The role offers a genuine mix of operational, commercial, and strategic exposure, making it ideal for someone who enjoys being hands-on while also contributing to the bigger picture.
The Finance Manager will take ownership of the monthly reporting cycle, budgeting and forecasting processes, and day-to-day financial operations across the business. Alongside core management accounting responsibilities, the role will involve partnering with operational stakeholders to provide meaningful commercial insight around performance, profitability, and growth opportunities.
- Financial Reporting & Controls
- Own the month-end close process including journals, accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and management accounts
- Maintain strong balance sheet controls and oversight across the finance function
- Lead the year-end audit process and support statutory reporting requirements
- Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis
- Deliver financial analysis and commercial insight to support operational decision-making
- Monitor profitability, pricing performance, and operational trends across the business
- Operational Finance
- Oversee banking activities, supplier payments, and the AP/AR cycle
- Support management of invoice financing arrangements and cash operations
- Assist with tax-related processes including R&D claims and external advisor liaison
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, and financial controls
- Support ongoing development of finance systems and operational processes
- Build scalable reporting models and improve data visibility across the business
- Manage and develop a junior member of the finance team
- Partner with non-finance stakeholders across operations and leadership
- Translate financial information into clear, actionable insight for the wider business
Qualifications:
- ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
- Experience within a fast-paced commercial environment
- Strong understanding of month-end processes and financial reporting
- Advanced Excel skills with confidence building financial models and analysis
- Commercially minded with the ability to communicate effectively with non-finance stakeholders
