Are you experienced in Procurement and looking for a new challenge? We've got a fantastic opportunity to join our Procurement team at SNG (Sovereign Network Group) as Senior Procurement Manager. Based from either Basingstoke or Wembley, you'll combine home and office working to ensure a positive work / life balance. To support close collaboration with the wider procurement team, there will be an expectation to be in the Basingstoke office on a weekly basis.

At SNG, we provide 86,000 homes and invest in communities across London, the South East, South West and East of England, as well as aiming to create thousands of new affordable homes every year.

The Role

Reporting into the Head of Strategic Sourcing, you'll be a key member of the senior leadership team within Procurement. You'll be responsible for the approach and methodology for SNG's procurement activity, demonstrating where procurement can add measurable value and identifying solutions which support the delivery of SNG's corporate goals. This is a hands-on role, responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for strategic spend categories within our Property Services and Building Safety & Compliance business areas
  • Leading a team of Category Managers – setting, supporting and overseeing category sourcing activity
  • Supporting multiple complex procurement projects across all areas of spend within your key business areas, ensuring that the procurement team and its service offering is aligned to business needs, delivering optimal quality, financial and risk outcomes
  • Delivering all end-to-end sourcing activity in accordance with Procurement Act 2023 and in line with commercial best practice
  • Contributing to transformational workstreams including data integrity and data reporting to maximise the use of data to impact decision making
  • Line Management of the category team to ensure best in class procurement, offering continuous support, mentorship and encouragement for personal development
  • Approval responsibility for high value purchase order requisitioning, and new supplier set up applications within scope of the category

What we need from you

You should have previous experience in a similar role within procurement, with significant experience in category management, including a track record in leading supplier engagement and sourcing activities to drive value for money. We are looking for experience from within property services / building safety / housing asset management, ideally from a housing background. You'll also need:

  • To demonstrate a flexible approach and an ability to manage ambiguity with short term tactical / transactional activity versus strategic long-term priorities
  • A good tool kit of sourcing techniques to identify, develop and deliver solutions
  • Experience of leading and managing multiple projects
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Ability to form effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good attention to detail and experience in contract drafting and varying
  • Leadership skills and a desire to coach and develop a small team
  • Experience of working under and advising on PCR 2015 and Procurement Act 2023
