We are looking for an experienced and authoritative Senior Building Safety Manager. This is a senior role combining strategic oversight with operational delivery. You will play a critical part in ensuring full compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022 and related regulations, while embedding a strong culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the development and embedding of building safety policies, procedures, and standards.
- Champion a proactive building safety culture aligned with SNG's Building Safety and Compliance Strategy.
- Provide expert advice to senior leaders on emerging risks, regulatory change, and organisational readiness.
- Oversee the production, maintenance, and quality assurance of Safety Case Reports for all higher-risk buildings.
- Ensure building safety risks are identified, mitigated, monitored, and reported effectively.
- Act as the key operational interface with the Building Safety Regulator, Fire Service, and other regulatory bodies.
- Act as Data Steward for building safety information, ensuring strong governance, accuracy, and accessibility.
- Investigate and escalate data issues or breaches in line with policy.
- Lead and support Building Safety Managers and Officers to deliver consistent, high-quality safety management.
- Ensure inspections, risk reviews, remedial actions, and compliance activities are completed to required standards and timescales.
- Work closely with Asset Management, Compliance, Fire Safety, and operational teams to deliver safe and effective outcomes.
- Ensure resident engagement is embedded within building safety activities.
- Support the delivery of resident engagement events, promoting transparency and trust.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to promote shared responsibility for building safety.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the building safety team, fostering accountability and high performance.
What we are looking for
Essential
- Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management and Fire Safety in Construction.
- Significant experience managing building safety across complex, high-risk residential buildings.
- Strong knowledge of the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order, building regulations, and safety management principles.
- Proven leadership experience in a regulated, safety-critical environment.
- Experience producing and quality-assuring Safety Case Reports or equivalent documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, including at senior level.
- Strong understanding of building construction, fire protection systems, risk management, and data governance.
Desirable
- Membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g. RICS, CIOB, IFE).
- NEBOSH Fire Certificate or equivalent.
- Experience with digital asset information systems and golden thread platforms.
- Experience leading organisational change or large-scale improvement programmes.
