About the Role

We are recruiting on behalf of a leading employment support provider delivering the Connect to Work programme across Hertfordshire. This programme supports individuals who face barriers to employment, including disability, long-term health conditions and complex life challenges, helping them move into sustainable, paid work. As an Employment Specialist, you will support participants in the community to secure and retain employment. This is a rewarding, people-focused role where you will see the real impact of your work every day.

A Mobile, Community-Based Role

This is a fully mobile role based in the community. You will travel daily across Hertfordshire to meet participants, employers and partner organisations in a range of settings, including community venues, health environments and workplaces. This is not a home-based position, so you must be comfortable with regular travel and have reliable access to transport.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a caseload of participants seeking employment
  • Meet regularly to understand their skills, strengths and career goals
  • Develop vocational profiles and tailored action plans
  • Support job search activity, including CV writing and interview preparation
  • Provide in-work support to help individuals sustain employment
  • Maintain accurate records and performance data

Your focus will be helping people move into work quickly, with the right support in place.

Employer Engagement

You will also work closely with local employers to create opportunities for participants. You will:

  • Identify and develop suitable job opportunities
  • Promote inclusive recruitment practices
  • Advise on reasonable adjustments
  • Provide ongoing support once employment begins

Partnership Working

You will collaborate with a range of local services, including:

  • Health services and primary care teams
  • Jobcentre Plus
  • Local authorities
  • Training providers
  • Community and voluntary organisations

Strong partnership working is key to creating sustainable employment outcomes.

About You

You are likely to be successful in this role if you:

  • Enjoy working with people and building trusted relationships
  • Are organised and able to manage a busy caseload
  • Communicate confidently with a range of stakeholders
  • Can work independently while contributing to a wider team
  • Are focused on practical solutions and positive outcomes

A clinical background is not required—transferable skills are welcomed.

Key Requirements

  • Experience supporting individuals, customers or clients in a caseload or target-driven environment
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Confidence engaging employers and external partners
  • Good IT skills (Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams)
  • A genuine belief in people’s ability to progress
