The Role
We are looking for an experienced Commercial Lead – IT and Digital to shape and deliver innovative, value-driven digital strategies across a shared service setting that supports multiple partners. This role leads on all aspects of Digital & IT procurement, contract management, supplier relationships, and commissioning governance, ensuring that digital investments are aligned to strategic goals and deliver maximum value and performance.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leading the development and implementation of a comprehensive Digital & IT Service Plan and Category Strategy.
- Driving complex procurement processes and contract negotiations across a variety of IT and digital services.
- Acting as the subject matter expert for all IT commissioning and supplier engagement.
- Ensuring digital contracts and services provide value for money, measurable impact, and continuous improvement.
- Shaping the approach to market engagement, working with internal and external stakeholders to understand needs and opportunities.
- Providing mentoring and support to colleagues across teams, helping build commercial and commissioning capability.
- Deputising for the Commercial Manager – Digital & IT as required.
Skills & Experience:
- A strong background in IT procurement, contract management, and commercial leadership within a complex or public service setting.
- Proven ability to navigate procurement legislation, frameworks, and commissioning best practice.
- Commercial acumen and expertise in IT supplier markets, risk evaluation, and value assurance.
- Experience leading on supplier relationship management and contract performance.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proactive, collaborative approach.
- CIPS Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience (minimum 5 years in IT purchasing or contract negotiation).
