WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
We are looking for a UK based IO Psychologist/Psychometrician to specialise in assessment content development and innovation. This role will be crucial in the development of cutting-edge assessment products. You will play a critical part in designing new assessments that reflect emerging skills while also optimizing our existing assessment assets to create more pre-built, off-the-shelf solutions. You will also work closely with other assessment providers we partner with.
This role will involve both strategic input and hands-on execution, ensuring our assessments remain scientifically sound and market-relevant.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end creation of talent assessment products, including defining constructs, designing content, piloting, analysing data, and reporting outcomes.
- Oversee research design, innovation, and validation processes to ensure fairness, validity, and predictive accuracy.
- Drive continuous improvement of assessment products and solutions, collaborating closely with Product and Engineering teams.
- Contribute to strategic product roadmap, integrating IP with market trends, commercial objectives, and scientific insights.

Assessment Content Development
- Conduct literature/competitor reviews and work closely with Product and Marketing to ensure Sova’s assessments remain at the forefront of innovation.
- Develop both traditional psychometric assessments (e.g., cognitive ability, personality, situational judgment tests, interviews, skills assessments) and non-traditional approaches leveraging NLP, machine learning, and generative AI (particularly large language models).
- Undertake detailed item and test analysis, harnessing latest analysis and machine learning technology and approaches.
- Maximize the use of existing Sova assessment assets to create robust and innovative pre-built, off-the-shelf solutions that meet diverse client needs.
Best Practice Standards
- Write supporting collateral including best practice, psychometric and user documentation.
- Ensure that both new and existing assessments meet rigorous psychometric standards and are seamlessly integrated into the platform.
- Strive to achieve BPS test standards and work towards submitting multiple Sova assessments for review.
- Analyze data to validate and refine assessment products, ensuring they are scientifically robust and applicable across varied contexts.
Translations
- Support ongoing translation programme for Sova’s pre-built solutions and off the shelf assessments.
Platform Product Development
- Work on multi-disciplinary projects; collaborate with Product, Professional Services and Marketing teams to help define, design, test and roll out new functionality and products for the Sova platform.
- Define and test SaaS platform requirements and enhancements, ensuring high-quality candidate experience, data capture, scoring, and analytics.
- Ensure appropriate safeguards and guidelines are in place for self-service client features, maintaining the integrity of the assessment process.
- Provide expert input on product specifications to enhance user experience and assessment quality.
Product Strategy and Thought Leadership
- Stay informed on the latest psychological research, market trends, and technological advancements to continuously enhance Sova’s assessment offerings.
- Contribute to webinars, white papers, and conference presentations, showcasing the innovation behind our products and positioning Sova as an industry leader.
- Leverage insights from AI, LLMs, and psychology to drive the development of forward-thinking assessment processes.
REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:
- Master’s or PhD in Occupational Psychology or Psychometrics.
- Proven track record in developing and launching innovative psychometric assessments, across a broad range of constructs, roles, sectors and job levels.
- Strong psychometric and data analysis skills, with the ability to apply these insights to develop and refine assessment tools (expert in Excel, SPSS).
- Comfortable engaging with clients and prospects at events, representing the company’s scientific expertise and innovative approach.
- Collaborative team player with experience working cross-functionally, particularly with product management and marketing teams.
- Working knowledge of machine learning as applied to psychometrics and employee selection.
- Experience in developing and deploying machine learning–based assessments in production environments.
- Knowledge of GDPR compliance, with a particular focus on AI and data protection
- Proficiency in R and Python programming.
