The Bishop of Southwark wishes to appoint a Team Rector of Furzedown, based in the parish of St James, working with the well established and experienced team. St James’ is an evangelical church serving a vibrant parish between Streatham and Tooting in the London Borough of Wandsworth, one of the three parishes forming the Furzedown Team; both CPAS and Church Society Trust form part of the Patronage Board.

We are committed to sharing the love of God with our local community, and seek to empower, equip and build up our church family to enable us to do so in ever more effective ways. We hope to appoint a spiritual, energetic and welcoming Rector, who will enjoy living in Furzedown and will lead us with enthusiasm to encourage our parish and team in our service for Christ.

  • Dynamic and imaginative in developing a strategy for breaking new ground within our local area.
  • A collaborative team leader, able to build on our existing mission and ministry, and to inspire, encourage, equip and deploy the gifts and ministries within our congregation.
  • An inspiring preacher and caring pastor able to provide and develop biblical teaching, prayer, worship, pastoral care and loving fellowship for a diverse church.
  • An evangelical Anglican who believes in the full ministry of women and men and is committed to work loyally within the Church of England and with the Diocese of Southwark, and in collaboration with the Furzedown Team.
