Digital skills tutor required for adult learning. Must have experience of teaching all abilities, particularly at entry level. Must be available for daytime classes and one or two evenings a week. Experience of teaching on accredited digital skills courses desirable.

Responsibilities:

  • Undertake teaching duties, including initial assessments of learners, identifying individual learning needs, referring to learning support as appropriate, and providing learner induction and tutorials.
  • Plan for teaching and learning, including preparing course outlines, schemes of work, lesson plans, and ensuring up-to-date course files.
  • Identify materials and equipment resources needed, produce flexible learning materials, and undertake course reviews.
  • Maintain accurate and current class registers.
  • Manage learner transfers and withdrawals in liaison with the curriculum team leader/manager.
  • Support high retention, achievement, and learner progression.
  • Monitor attendance and punctuality, taking appropriate action as required.
  • Record and recognize learner progress and achievement, including marking work and maintaining individual learning plans.
  • Provide retention and achievement data to the curriculum team leader/manager.
  • Assist with course accreditation and examination organization, including assessment and recording of learner outcomes and completing exam entry forms.
  • Comply with safeguarding, Health and Safety, and GDPR regulations.
  • Be familiar with procedures for fire and risk assessments in the learning environment.
  • Promote equal opportunities policies within the classroom, syllabus, learning materials, and relationships with the Service.
  • Ensure classroom and equipment security.
  • Attend and contribute to course team meetings.
  • Undertake training as identified through the management process.
  • Participate in the Service’s self-assessment and development planning processes.
  • Follow any reasonable requests related to the teaching programme made by the Service.

Knowledge and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent).
  • Knowledge and training in subject specialism (e.g., CELTA, Trinity TESOL, Teaching qualification with ELT/ESOL).
  • Minimum L2 English and maths qualifications.

Experience:

  • At least one year of teaching experience, preferably in a related industry or sector.
  • Proven track record of successful teaching outcomes.
  • Ability to follow processes and procedures.
