Our Travel Assistance Team is looking for a passionate and dedicated Travel Assistance Assessment Co-ordinator to join our amazing team and help make a difference today.

About the Role:

As a Travel Assistance Assessment Co-ordinator, you will:

  • Assess applications for travel assistance in line with policy and legislation.
  • Determine eligibility and recommend suitable, cost-effective travel options.
  • Ensure documentation and processes are clear, efficient, and compliant.
  • Support service improvements, promoting independent and sustainable travel.
  • Work collaboratively with schools, families, transport providers, and colleagues to deliver a joined-up service.

This varied and rewarding role combines policy, assessment, and direct family engagement - helping promote independence and inclusion across Southwark.

This is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract

About You:

We’re looking for a committed, motivated professional with a passion for improving access to education for children and young people with SEND.

You’ll have:

  • Experience or knowledge of SEND travel assistance or similar services.
  • Strong communication skills to build positive relationships with families and partners.
  • Excellent written and organisational skills with attention to detail.
  • The ability to assess needs, solve problems, and manage a busy workload.
  • A collaborative, flexible, and customer-focused approach.
  • A clear commitment to equality, inclusion, and safeguarding.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this post, as it involves regulated activity under the Vetting & Barring Scheme.

About the Team:

You’ll be joining a dedicated and supportive Travel Assistance Team within Southwark’s Children’s & Adults’ Services. Our service helps vulnerable children and young people access education, promoting safety, independence, and inclusion.
