We’re proud to be a council with a ‘can do’ attitude, committed to delivering high-quality services that put our communities first. We brought our Leisure Service back under council management, an exciting move that reflects our dedication to health, wellbeing, and inclusion.

Southwark Council is the largest local authority social landlord in London, managing 55,000 homes lived in by 40% of Southwark’s residents. We are home to over 18,300 businesses including iconic London venues such as The Shard, The Tate Modern and Borough Market along with many social enterprises and we have a young, diverse, and growing population. At Southwark we are committed to making our borough just and fair and are taking positive action to tackle inequalities. Our residents and communities are our greatest asset and the passion we have for Southwark is shared by millions of Londoners who enjoy our outstanding cultural offer, use our hospitals and attend our universities. Our refreshed borough plan and focus on Southwark Stands Together (which is our work with Southwark’s communities and the council’s staff to tackle racism, injustice and inequality), underpins all that we do.

We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Leisure Finance and Admin Officer to play a key role in supporting the delivery of finance and administrative services across our eight council-run leisure centres. This role plays a vital part in supporting our finance operations overseeing the accurate processing of invoices, chasing outstanding hire debts, and collating weekly timesheets to ensure colleagues are paid on time. It demands a strong grasp of financial procedures and administrative precision.

  • Provide day-to-day finance and admin support across the Leisure division
  • Manage hire bookings for our leisure centres
  • Prepare and collate timesheets
  • Assist with the preparation of direct debit collection runs and account reconciliation
  • Produce financial reports and collaborate with Leisure Centre Managers to improve systems and practices

Your work will help ensure our services are efficient, inclusive, and accessible supporting Southwark residents in leading healthier, more active lives.

We want someone who is organised, detail-oriented and passionate about making a difference in local communities. You’ll bring:

  • A solid understanding of leisure service business processes and financial admin
  • Experience in bookkeeping, invoicing, and reconciliation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with colleagues, managers, and external stakeholders
