What the Job Involves
The position of Deputy Team Manager in Social Work within Intermediate Care Southwark (ICS) involves supporting the Team Manager to provide leadership for a multi-disciplinary team, including Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, and other professionals. This involves delivering high-quality adult services for older people and individuals with physical disabilities. Your role entails overseeing the management of staff, ensuring the delivery of safe, strength-based services, and promoting independence and recovery. You'll be responsible for the comprehensive assessments, reviews, and interventions, overseeing safeguarding investigations, supporting court work, and managing performance appraisals and staff development. Additionally, you'll cover and lead the duty function within both Intermediate Care and Urgent Response, handle triaging and allocation of cases, and ensure adherence to statutory responsibilities. You will build positive working relationships with relevant teams, oversee case transfers, and act as a role model within the community. The role is defined by flexibility, requiring occasional work outside of normal hours to meet service needs, and adherence to the Council’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
