We are looking to employ an enthusiastic part-time Salaried GP. You will need to be:

  • Be a fully qualified GP registered with the GMC (UK)
  • Newly qualified GPs welcome with CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training)
  • Be a resilient and enthusiastic team player

Main duties of the job:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations, e-Consults and queries, visiting patients at home (although we have very low visit rates), checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • In consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.
  • Providing counselling and health education.
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.

  • We have an excellent purpose-built premises consisting of 3 GP Partners (one male and two female GPs) with the following: ANP, Practice Nurse & HCA.
  • Very stable staff team.
  • High QOF & LQC achievement.
  • We currently have over 5000 patients and still growing.
  • We use the EMIS web clinical system along with add-on applications such as e-Consult and AccuRx.
  • We also have full engagement and relationships with our PCN, Federation and ICB.

Clinical responsibilities:

  • In accordance with the practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make themselves available to undertake a variety of duties, including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork and correspondence in a timely fashion.
  • Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other healthcare workers within the organisation.
  • Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.
  • Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.
  • Developing care plans for health in consultation with patients and in line with current practice disease management protocols.
  • Providing counselling and health education.
  • Admitting or discharging patients to and from the caseload and referring to other care providers as appropriate.
  • Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.
  • Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions (avoiding hand-written prescriptions whenever possible).
  • Prescribing in accordance with the practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate.
  • In general, the post-holder will be expected to undertake all the normal duties and responsibilities associated with a GP working within primary care.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in chronic disease management.
  • Primary prevention & screening services.
  • Clinical Governance.

  • Self-audit and reflection.
  • Organised and efficient in record keeping and completion of paperwork.
  • Time management being able to prioritise work and work under pressure.
  • Ability to input to strategic and practice development requirements.

Qualifications:

  • GP CCT (Certificate of Completion of Training).
  • Newly qualified GPs welcome.
  • Disclosure and Barring Service Check: This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
  • Depending on experience, competitive salary to be discussed at interview.
