How you\'ll make a difference

As a Finance Officer, you will support the delivery of a range of quality and cost-effective financial management services, supporting the income side transaction team.


What you will be doing
  • As a key point of contact for Transport and Project Managers, you will support them with financial administration tasks, ensuring they are completed accurately and to time.
  • Regularly, you will provide financial advice and support to the Senior Accountant and relevant budget holders. This will involve accessing the main and subsidiary accounting systems, utilising spreadsheets, and applying specific software tools.
  • It will be key for you to be the main contact for budget holders, preparing quarterly budget monitoring information and contributing to the development of revenue and capital budgets.
  • As required, you will ensure a prompt follow-up on requests for information from budget holders.
  • It will be your responsibility to co-ordinate the recharges to projects, ensuring that these are completed on time to support monthly monitoring.
  • Using your own initiative, you will develop and prioritise work, managing your time to ensure key deadlines are met.
  • You will support budget holders in the preparation of grant claims and quarterly monitoring reports, ensuring you meet financial reporting requirements.

What we need from you
  • You may hold an Association of Accounting Technicians qualification or be working towards this or have gained equivalent relevant experience working in a similar role.
  • It is essential that you have gained knowledge and experience of working in an organisation that delivers a range of quality and cost-effective financial management and support services including the preparation of financial and budget information.
  • You need to have strong numeracy and literacy skills and be experienced in report writing, presentations and IT.
  • We require you to be able to demonstrate clear and logical thinking in assessing challenges and problem solving.
  • Although not essential, you may have knowledge of Microsoft D365.
