Southfields Primary School is looking for anexceptional Specialist SEND Teacher & Provision Lead to join ourteam and play a key role in the development of our new specialist SENDprovision.
This is a rare and exciting opportunity for anexperienced teacher with a genuine passion for SEND to join us at the beginningof an important new chapter for our school.
The successful candidate will be a class-basedteacher, with responsibility for their own class within our specialistprovision. Alongside providing high-quality, highly individualised teaching andlearning, they will take on additional leadership responsibilities within theprovision and work closely with our Headteacher and Deputy Headteacher/SENDCoto ensure that our vision is translated into exceptional everyday practice forchildren.
We are looking for someone who loves teaching, wantsto remain close to children and classroom practice, and is excited by theopportunity to combine excellent specialist teaching with leadershipresponsibility.

Joining our new provision that is due to open inSeptember 2027 offers something very different from stepping into anestablished role.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to thedevelopment of the provision from its earliest stages β helping to establishits culture, routines, learning environment and approaches to teaching andlearning. Working alongside colleagues to create a provision where childrenfeel safe, understood, valued and able to succeed.
We want our specialist provision to be ambitious forevery child. We believe that SEND should never mean lowering expectations.Instead, we want to understand each child's individual starting point andprovide the communication, relationships, regulation, adaptations and carefullystructured learning they need to make meaningful progress.
About the role
As our Specialist SEND Teacher and Provision Lead, youwill have responsibility for your own class and will plan, deliver and evaluatehigh-quality learning that is responsive to children's individual needs andEHCP outcomes.
Alongside your teaching responsibilities, you willprovide day-to-day leadership within the specialist provision, modellingexcellent practice, supporting colleagues and helping to develop consistentapproaches which enable children to flourish.
You will work collaboratively with the DeputyHeadteacher/SENDCo, other teachers, support staff, families and externalprofessionals. You will understand that successful specialist provision dependsupon excellent teamwork and strong relationships with the children and familieswe serve.
We are looking for someone who:
- is anexcellent and reflective classroom practitioner with high expectations forchildren with SEND;
- has strongknowledge and experience of working with children with significant and/orcomplex special educational needs;
- hasparticular expertise or experience in areas such as autism, communicationand interaction needs and complex learning needs;
- understandshow communication, sensory processing, emotional regulation andrelationships can influence children's access to learning;
- can planand deliver a highly differentiated and individualised curriculum whilemaintaining ambitious expectations;
- understandsand can contribute effectively to the implementation and review of EHCPprovision and outcomes;
- can leadby example, model excellent specialist practice and support thedevelopment of other adults;
- understandsthat behaviour is communication and approaches children with curiosity,consistency and compassion;
- valuespositive relationships with parents and carers and recognises theirexpertise in understanding their children;
- isenthusiastic about contributing to a new provision and is comfortableworking collaboratively as it develops; and
- shares ourcommitment to creating an inclusive school in which every childexperiences belonging, achievement and success.
