Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday

Salary: Competitive salary commensurate to experience

Job Overview

We are pleased to be recruiting for a Water Efficiency Field Performance Manager to lead the mobilisation and delivery of Southern Water's new in-house Water Efficiency Audit Programme, a c.Β£3m annual demand reduction programme that plays a critical role in our regulatory and long-term water resource objectives.

This is a rare opportunity to build a new field operation from the ground up. You will have end-to-end accountability for translating our water efficiency strategy into a practical, high-performing service, establishing the operating model, ways of working, controls and performance measures needed to deliver at scale across our region.

Leading a team of Water Efficiency Field Engineers and Customer Engagement Officers, you will oversee domestic and non-household water audits and interventions, ensuring the programme achieves measurable reductions in Per Capita Consumption and business water demand while delivering strong customer participation, service quality and return on investment.

Working closely with the Water Efficiency Programme Lead and senior stakeholders across Southern Water, you will own operational delivery, workforce planning, customer experience, financial performance, health and safety, compliance and continuous improvement. You will use data and insight to identify risks, improve performance and maximise the programme's contribution to water resource resilience and our environmental commitments.

About You

We are looking for an experienced operational leader who has successfully set up, mobilised or significantly transformed a field-based, customer-facing service. You will be comfortable working with a high level of autonomy, turning strategic objectives into clear delivery plans and creating the structure, standards and culture needed for a new team to succeed.

You will bring a strong track record of leading and developing operational teams, managing performance against stretching KPIs and using data to drive practical improvement. Commercially aware and customer focused, you will be confident managing budgets, resources, risk and competing priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and service.

Your ability to build trusted relationships will be evident in the way you influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across Operations, Customer Services, Water Resources, Finance, Communications, Asset Management and Data & Analytics. You will communicate performance clearly, challenge constructively and create accountability through others.

Experience in water efficiency, utilities, environmental services, sustainability or audit and survey-based programmes would be advantageous, but it is not essential. What matters most is your experience of building and leading a high-performing field operation, your continuous improvement mindset and your ability to deliver measurable outcomes. A full UK driving licence is essential.
