About the role
Are you ready to take on a key leadership role in the non-infrastructure wastewater sector? We’re looking for a Senior Project Manager to lead a major sub-programme of work valued at circa £250 million as part of our AMP8 investment programme. You’ll work closely with one of our Strategic Delivery Partners, driving performance and ensuring successful delivery of critical wastewater projects. This is a high-impact role within our Wastewater Capital Delivery team, where you’ll lead multiple projects and teams to deliver efficient, high-quality outcomes aligned with our strategic goals.
What you will be responsible for:
- Leading the delivery of multiple projects and sub-programmes within the wastewater capital portfolio
- Managing and supporting a Capital Delivery team, including four direct reports
- Driving programme performance, ensuring projects are delivered to time, cost and quality targets
- Working closely with Strategic Delivery Partners to oversee contractor performance and delivery
- Building strong relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders
- Managing financial forecasting, risk, and performance reporting across your programme
- Driving continuous improvement and ensuring compliance with health, safety and quality standards
Additional requirements specific to the role:
- Hybrid role with regular travel to Falmer and project locations
- Embedded working with Strategic Delivery Partners and contractors
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential
- Strong experience delivering large-scale infrastructure or utilities programmes, ideally within wastewater
- Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and delivery partners
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at a senior level
- Experience managing project performance, including risk, budgets and forecasting
- In depth understanding of health & safety and quality requirements in project delivery
Desirable
- Experience delivering non-infrastructure wastewater programmes
- Experience building and managing contracts, including NEC
- Degree (or equivalent experience) in Science, Engineering or Management
- Chartered status (or working towards)
- Professional certifications such as APM Project Professional Qualification or Managing Successful Programmes Practitioner
