Southern Water is seeking an experienced Senior Electronic Security Systems Engineer to help protect critical infrastructure and lead the development, integration and assurance of our electronic security systems (ESS). You’ll act as the bridge between security legislation, regulatory guidance and operational delivery, ensuring our systems remain compliant, resilient and future-ready.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver expert ESS guidance and support the Protective Security Strategy.
- Support Regional Security Advisors assuring any security upgrades/project are compliant with the relevant Southern Water security policies and standards.
- Work with IT/OT teams, 3rd-party integrators and Tier 1 contractors to deliver compliant security upgrades and projects.
- Support the maintenance and performance of core systems including CCTV, IDS, Access Control and PSIM.
- Drive improvements through AI, automation and digital integration.
- Collaborate with the Alarm Monitoring Centre to enhance system performance.
- Maintain strong relationships with system providers and stay informed on future technology roadmaps.
- Promote security awareness across the business and support on-call duties.
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years in a similar security engineering role (water industry experience beneficial).
- Strong technical expertise in ESS design, specification and implementation.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, standards and NPSA guidance.
- Experience in compliance auditing and integrated system development.
- Effective stakeholder management and experience working with police or security agencies.
- Full UK driving licence and own vehicle.
- Membership of a recognised security body and commitment to CPD.
