Hours: Our full-time employees typically work a 37 hour working week Mon-Fri, but we welcome applications from those looking for part-time hours too.

About the role
We’re looking for a compassionate, confident and inspiring Head of Health & Safety to help create a safe and supportive environment for everyone who works with us. In this senior role, you’ll guide our teams across a wide range of health, safety, security and wellbeing activities. You’ll offer calm, thoughtful leadership while helping shape our long term direction. You’ll play a key role in making sure our people feel safe, listened to and empowered. This role also involves guiding major decisions, working closely with senior leaders and partners, and building strong relationships with colleagues, communities, and regulators.
What you’ll be responsible for:
- Supporting, developing and uplifting Health, Safety & Wellbeing Managers across the organisation.
- Helping senior leaders understand safety priorities by sharing clear insights and recommendations.
- Making sure our safety standards are applied consistently and smoothly across all business areas.
- Creating thoughtful, people centred strategies that improve safety and wellbeing.
- Leading and motivating a cross disciplinary team across a wide geographic region.
- Managing budgets responsibly and ensuring we make positive, balanced decisions.
- Building trusted relationships with partners, regulators, and community stakeholders.
Please note that all our Senior Leaders are required to take part in a standby rota, typically 1 week in 8. More details can be provided at interview.
What you’ll bring to the role
- Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation and how to apply it in a practical, supportive way.
- Experience leading health and safety in a senior role, ideally in a CNI environment or similar.
- Experience with process safety and large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
- A warm, engaging communication style with the ability to build trusting relationships.
- Experience leading change and encouraging positive shifts in culture and behaviour.
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and Chartered / Fellow IOSH membership.
- Awareness of environmental considerations in safety.
- Understanding of behavioural safety, human factors, and culture change.
- A full UK driving licence.
