Job Title: Cost Analyst
Location: Falmer (Brighton)

About the role
This role supports the Finance Business Partner teams in the Water or Waste operational directorates. Overall purpose of the role is to interrogate data and analyse costs, providing recommendations to drive efficiencies, cost savings and process improvements.
Responsibilities
- Analyse and manipulate large data sets to identify trends and opportunities for cost savings.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Support Finance Business Partners with reporting, forecasting, and budgeting activities.
- Develop dashboards and reports to track savings initiatives and performance.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to challenge processes and drive improvements.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
- Analytical and inquisitive, with a passion for data and problem-solving.
- Skilled in Excel and data handling, with an understanding of systems and ideally PowerBI.
- Able to communicate effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Persistent, resilient, and comfortable challenging the status quo to deliver better outcomes.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to build relationships
- Inquisitive nature and a self-starter
- Proven ability to work with data and produce meaningful analysis.
Desirable
- Experience working with Finance stakeholders and providing commercial insight.
- Interest in progressing towards a Finance Business Partner role.
- Degree educated (or equivalent experience) and/or working towards a professional accounting qualification.
