Southern Water is looking for a Data Performance Optimisation Lead Engineer to join our Asset Reliability team. This is a key role focused on leveraging data to enhance asset performance, reduce operational risk, and optimise maintenance strategies. You will work closely with our job management system (IBM Maximo) and play a pivotal role in improving data quality, functionality, and reporting.

About the role:
Lead improvements in the reliability of Southern Water’s assets by enhancing asset engineering performance, conducting comprehensive data analysis, and driving proactive asset optimisation. You’ll work closely with asset reliability engineers, asset integrators, planners, schedulers, and operations and maintenance teams to deliver smarter, more efficient asset performance.
What you will be responsible for:
- Maintenance Planning & Scheduling: Assign Planned Preventive Maintenance (PPM)/ Maintenance Tasks (MTM) in Maximo. Schedule and group maintenance tasks to minimise operational risk and reduce costs.
- Data Management & System Optimisation: Improve data integrity and expand Maximo’s functionality for better asset management. Administer and review data inputs to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Performance Analysis & Reporting: Develop and maintain dashboards to monitor key asset KPIs, including: Annual downtime, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Average asset lifespan. Generate accurate backlog reports and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.
- Continuous Improvement: Apply data-driven strategies to optimise asset reliability and performance. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for efficiency gains.
Skills & Experience:
- Strong experience with IBM Maximo or similar job management systems.
- Proficient in data analysis and dashboard creation (Power BI or similar tools).
- Knowledge of asset reliability principles and maintenance planning.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret complex data and communicate insights effectively.
