About The Role:
We are recruiting a Regional Risk Specialist to support Wastewater Treatment operations across Hampshire. This role acts as a focal point for identifying, tracking, and reducing operational risks. These risks relate to health, safety and wellbeing, customers, the environment, and budget control. You will work closely with Field Performance Managers and other internal teams to ensure risks are clearly understood, prioritised, and managed. You will play a key role in improving safety performance, reducing customer impact, supporting environmental compliance, and ensuring effective financial control.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and coordinate escalated operational risks within the Hampshire region
- Assess risk impact and map risks against internal risk criteria
- Maintain and update a regional risk heat map
- Track progress of risk reduction plans through agreed delivery routes
- Chair and support Regional Risk Review meetings
- Work with internal stakeholders to investigate risks and agree solutions
- Support solution development activities for complex and long-term risks
- Produce clear risk statements to support effective decision-making
- Contribute to the development of business cases for investment funding
- Build strong relationships across Southern Water
Additional Requirements Specific To The Role:
- Occasional travel to wastewater treatment sites across Hampshire
- Full UK driving licence is required
Essential Qualifications:
- Experience assessing and managing operational or asset-related risk
- Background in a regulated or operational environment
- Ability to analyse information from multiple sources
- Strong stakeholder engagement and collaboration skills
- Confident communicating complex issues in a clear and practical way
- Ability to work independently and prioritise a varied workload
Desirable Qualifications:
- Experience within wastewater or water operations
- Knowledge of asset risk management or root cause analysis
- Experience supporting business cases or investment planning
- Awareness of health
