About the Role
Are you an experienced operations leader with a passion for managing teams and optimizing wastewater treatment operations? Southern Water is looking for a Regional Operations Manager to oversee our wastewater treatment facilities across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of our treatment sites within this operational patch, leading a dedicated operational team within the area.
Responsibilities
- Lead health and safety performance across all wastewater treatment sites with a no-compromise approach.
- Drive a strong and positive safety culture through visible leadership and technical safety expertise.
- Ensure excellent environmental performance and high-quality final effluent at all treatment works.
- Manage regional operational risk, ensuring risks are identified, assessed and controlled.
- Work closely with asset maintenance teams to keep sites online, compliant and effective.
- Own and manage operational budgets, balancing safety, performance and efficiency.
- Lead Elimination of Waste programmes, including power use, power generation, tankering and chemical efficiency.
- Provide engaging leadership through coaching, empowerment, clear standards and performance management.

- Participation in the Incident Management out-of-hours rota.
Essential
- Proven senior operational management experience within wastewater, utilities or a similar regulated environment.
- Strong technical understanding of health and safety management.
- Experience leading large, multi-disciplinary operational teams.
- Demonstrated ability to manage operational budgets and cost control.
- Ability to lead cultural change and performance improvement.
Desirable
- Experience working across geographically dispersed sites.
- Experience with continuous improvement or operational efficiency programmes.
