Core Responsibilities
- Compliance testing.
- Maintenance tasks – unblocking pumps, screens and valves to ensure continuous plant operation.
- Repair of alarm systems.
- Monitoring, collating and reporting of data to ensure statutory and regulatory compliance.
- Fault finding and problem‑solving skills are essential to respond to breakdowns.
- Site hygiene in line with our regulatory obligations.
- Carrying out regular sampling to support process monitoring and compliance.
- Ensuring sampling equipment is maintained, calibrated and functioning correctly.
- Receiving and handling deliveries of chemicals, such as ferric sulphate – with full awareness of hazardous material protocols and safety procedures.
Profile and Working Conditions
- Comfortable working outdoors, potentially in all weather conditions.
- Prepared to work within the company’s rota of a 7‑day working week and participate on a standby rota.
- Part of a team who delivers excellent performance by understanding how you affect the overall mission of Southern Water.
- Have a good sense of humour, because of what you will be working with and not to be too squeamish.
- Adaptable, flexible, patient, reliable and self‑motivated.
- Good with time management.
- Confident to work effectively and efficiently on your own.
