Southern Water is looking for an Assistant Project Manager to join our Capital Delivery team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the delivery of high-profile water infrastructure projects. These projects help shape the future of water services and support reliable, sustainable outcomes for our customers and communities.
Capital Delivery plays a key role in planning, managing and delivering large infrastructure projects across the Southern Water region. These projects help us meet regulatory requirements, improve services and protect the environment.
You will work with Project Managers, Delivery Partners, operational teams and other key stakeholders. You will help make sure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the right quality standards.
- Support the delivery of water infrastructure projects through regular site visits, monitoring progress against programme, recording key project metrics and providing accurate reporting updates.
- Promote safe, compliant and high-quality project delivery by monitoring health and safety, environmental performance, water quality and customer experience across project sites.
- Assist with project planning and controls, including risk management, Early Warnings through CEMAR, progress meetings, shutdown planning and stakeholder communications.
- Build strong working relationships with delivery partners, operational teams, customers, landowners and other stakeholders to support successful project outcomes and resolve site issues.
- Support project governance and handover activities, including construction assurance, review of project documentation, asset integration and completion of project close-out requirements.
A full UK driving licence is required, as the role is around 70% site based.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to record clear, accurate project information are essential.
A proactive approach to health, safety, environmental performance and customer experience is necessary.
An interest in project delivery, construction, infrastructure or utilities is beneficial.
Experience supporting project or programme delivery within water, utilities, infrastructure or construction is preferred.
Experience working on site-based construction or engineering projects is advantageous.
A project management or construction-related qualification is desirable.
Experience using CEMAR or similar project management systems is a plus.
This role offers a strong development opportunity for someone looking to grow their project management career. You will gain hands-on experience across planning, site delivery, risk management, stakeholder engagement, reporting and asset handover. You will also work closely with experienced Project Managers and multidisciplinary teams across Capital Delivery.
