About the role: We’re looking for an Assistant Project Manager to support the delivery of large-scale Strategic Resource Option (SRO) water infrastructure programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of nationally significant infrastructure projects (NSIP) that will be developed and delivered over the next 15 years. You’ll work within the Capital Projects Directorate, supporting complex, multi-million-pound programmes that are critical to future water resilience. Working closely with Project and Programme Managers, you’ll help coordinate project activities, support decision-making and ensure delivery stays on track across cost, schedule and quality.
What you will be responsible for:
- Supporting project coordination across design, procurement, delivery and closeout
- Assisting with governance, reporting and assurance for internal and external stakeholders
- Supporting stakeholder engagement to enable timely decisions
- Coordinating internal teams, consultants, contractors and framework partners
- Supporting contract administration activities (NEC3/NEC4), including early warnings and compensation events
- Assisting with project tracking, including programme, cost and risk management
- Supporting regulatory engagement with organisations such as Ofwat, Drinking Water Inspectorate (DWI), Environment Agency (EA) and RAPID
Additional requirements specific to the role:
- Hybrid working with occasional travel to sites and stakeholder locations, therefore driving licence is essential
- Involvement in site visits to support health & safety and quality compliance
What you’ll bring to the role:
- Essential
- Experience supporting infrastructure, utilities or engineering projects
- Strong organisational and stakeholder coordination skills
- Good understanding of project reporting, tracking and performance monitoring
- Awareness of health & safety regulations, including Construction Design and Management (CDM)
- Commercial awareness and understanding of budgets and forecasting

- Experience working in a regulated water or utilities environment
- Knowledge of NEC3 or NEC4 contracts and processes
- Experience working with consultants, contractors and delivery partners
- Working towards or holding a qualification in project management, engineering or construction management
