Description The Registered Nurse in the OB Department provides direct and indirect patient care. Will oversee LPN practices as directed by unit director. Essential Functions Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals to provide care to the patients. Establishing, reviewing, revising and following the patient plan of care Administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice for a Registered Nurse Recording patient care activities including assessment, reassessment, and ongoing treatment notes within the patients medical record. Using a variety of computer systems Operating medical equipment used in the care of the patient Providing patient and family education related to treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge and self-care. Providing patient care following nursing standards of care in a manner that promotes excellent outcomes, avoids harm to patients, and promotes heath and healing. Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English. Must possess the ability to work under pressure, to adapt quickly in changing situations, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings. Unit specific duties as assigned. Non-Essential Functions Accepts all call schedule as directed. Complete all assigned education in a timely manner. Other duties as assigned. Must complete department specific education. Organizational Expectations Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of whether there is harm. Bachelor Degree in Nursing is preferred. Required Licenses ( Tennessee, United States ) Registered Nurse Must have a current TN RN license or a compact state license or obtain within 30 days from date of hire. Required Skills BLS current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. ACLS current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. NRP current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire. AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification current or must obtain within 6 months from date of hire. S.T.A.B.L.E. current or must obtain within 90 days from date of hire.
