We are a privately-owned construction company undertaking groundworks, basements, and reinforced concrete frame projects throughout the South of England for a wide range of clients.
Hours: We are flexible in regards to part time or full time for the right candidate but require hours to be carried out over 5 days (Monday to Friday minimum of 6 hours per day).
Role Overview: Southern Structures Ltd is seeking an experienced Document Controller to support both our pre-construction and construction teams. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing project documentation, ensuring accurate control, distribution and storage of all project information. This role will primarily be office based, with occasional visits to construction sites as required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain project document control systems for pre-construction and live construction projects.
- Ensure all drawings, specifications, reports and technical documents are correctly logged, tracked and distributed.
- Liaise with internal teams at Southern Structures Ltd, including pre-construction, commercial and project delivery teams.
- Coordinate with client representatives, consultants and subcontractors to ensure documentation is issued and received in accordance with project procedures.
- Maintain accurate document registers and ensure version control is adhered to at all times.
- Upload, download and manage documentation on client document management systems and Common Data Environments (CDEs).
- Monitor incoming and outgoing project correspondence.
- Ensure all project documentation is stored in accordance with company procedures and industry best practice.
- Assist project teams with document retrieval and provide administrative support where required.
- Attend occasional site visits to support project teams and ensure documentation processes are being followed.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience working as a Document Controller within the UK construction industry.
- Previous experience working for a Main Contractor or Sub-Contractor is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of construction documentation processes and drawing control procedures.
- Experience using document management systems or Common Data Environments.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to liaise with internal teams, clients and consultants.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and document management software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong Communicator, highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Full UK driving licence is required.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience working within structural, civil or general construction sectors.
- Familiarity with systems such as Viewpoint, Aconex, Asite, Sharepoint, or similar document control platforms.
- Previous experience supporting pre-construction teams.
