Isle of Wight (Newport & Sandown – Island-wide travel required)

The role

We are looking for a Housing Support Worker to join our dedicated team on the Isle of Wight!

This is a varied and rewarding role where you will provide tenancy sustainment, intensive housing management, and person-centred support to residents across our specialist supported housing schemes. You will work in partnership with the NHS, local authorities, and voluntary sector organisations to help individuals maintain their tenancies, develop independence, and achieve positive outcomes.

You will be primarily based at either our Newport office but will work flexibly across multiple schemes and locations across the Island.

What you’ll be doing

  • Deliver tenancy sustainment and intensive housing management, ensuring residents are supported to maintain their homes and avoid homelessness
  • Provide person-centred support to vulnerable residents, including those with complex needs, promoting independence and wellbeing
  • Use strengths-based approaches, Housing First principles, and psychologically informed environments (PIE)
  • Develop and maintain support plans and risk assessments, ensuring they are up to date and meet statutory and local authority requirements
  • Deliver key working sessions, supporting residents to achieve their goals and build independent living skills
  • Support with daily living, life skills, social inclusion, and community engagement
  • Work collaboratively with external partners including health professionals and other agencies
  • Maintain the safety and security of residents’ homes, ensuring a safe living environment
  • Follow all health and safety procedures, including lone working and safeguarding
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and risk situations
  • Encourage resident involvement and engagement in services

What you’ll need

  • Experience working in a customer-focused or support environment
  • Knowledge of tenancy sustainment, housing management, and relevant legislation
  • Ability to manage risk and respond effectively to challenging situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships
  • A compassionate, empathetic and patient approach
  • Ability to work flexibly, prioritise workload, and manage competing demands
  • Experience (or willingness to develop skills) in support planning and key working
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders and partner agencies
  • Willingness to work towards an NVQ Level 2 and 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs (Grade 9–5 / A–C), including Maths and English (or equivalent)*

Additional requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use
  • Willingness to travel across the Isle of Wight
