We're looking for a motivated and capable individual to join our team as a Project Manager - Fire Remediation. At Southern Housing, we are committed to creating communities where everyone has a safe home in a place they are proud to live. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the safety, compliance and long-term resilience of our buildings through the delivery of complex fire remediation projects.
Reporting to the Programme Manager, you'll be responsible for leading the diagnosis, investigation and resolution of fire safety and construction-related deficiencies across our housing portfolio. You'll work closely with internal specialists, contractors, consultants, regulators and residents to ensure buildings are safe, compliant and remediated to the highest standards.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Managing complex fire remediation projects from inception through to completion, ensuring delivery to agreed quality, budget and timescales.
- Reviewing construction information, coordinating investigations and managing testing programmes, including PAS9980 assessments and Fire Risk Assessments where required.
- Leading and managing external consultants, contractors and stakeholders to identify and deliver effective remediation solutions.
- Ensuring robust quality assurance, risk management and compliance throughout projects, while maintaining the golden thread of building safety information.
- Liaising with regulators, enforcement bodies, legal representatives and funding partners to secure the most effective and sustainable outcomes.
You'll also contribute to continuous improvement by keeping abreast of emerging legislation and industry guidance, identifying opportunities to strengthen building safety practices, and sharing knowledge across the wider team.
This role is based at our Farringdon office, with hybrid working arrangements available. You may also work from another Southern Housing office as agreed with your manager.
About You
We're looking for someone who is proactive, solutions-focused and detail-oriented, with a passion for improving building safety and delivering successful project outcomes. You'll enjoy working collaboratively, managing complex projects and communicating technical information to a wide range of stakeholders.
You’ll bring:
- Relevant experience: Managing complex building, construction, fire safety or remediation projects, ideally within the housing sector.
- Skills and knowledge: Excellent knowledge of fire safety legislation and construction methods, particularly relating to fire spread and fire stopping, supported by a relevant qualification. Professional membership or qualification in Building Surveying, Construction Management, MCIOB, RICS or MCABE is desirable.
- Communication skills: The ability to communicate complex technical information clearly and effectively to residents, colleagues, contractors, regulators and other stakeholders.
- Problem-solving ability: A practical and innovative approach to identifying solutions, mitigating risk and overcoming complex project challenges.
- Organisation and prioritisation: Strong project planning, contract management and budget control skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Teamwork: Experience of building effective relationships and working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors and external partners.
- Adaptability: Comfortable working within a complex and evolving regulatory environment, with the ability to interpret and apply new legislation and guidance.
About The Team
You'll be part of the Building Safety Team, working together to ensure our residents live in safe, compliant and well-maintained homes. The team collaborates closely with Asset Management, Property Services, Legal, Compliance and external specialist consultants to deliver fire safety remediation programmes and drive continuous improvements in building safety across Southern Housing's portfolio.
