Southern Health and Social Care Trust is now recruiting for a Head of Transport to join their team.
Location: Rosedale, Bannvale Site, Gilford
Directorate: Mental Health & Disability
Reports to: Assistant Director Disability Services
Accountable to: Director of Mental Health & Disability Services
Job Summary: In this role, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient management of Transport Services for all directorates and associated services to the Trust. You will provide strong leadership to the department, contributing to overall policy development. Additionally, you will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the department across directorates, monitoring compliance with all relevant statutory obligations and the requirements of the DHSSPS and HSC organisations, devising and implementing remedial strategies, and providing advice as necessary. You will be responsible for ensuring that vehicle service and testing is carried out in line with maintenance and vehicle testing schedules and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation including DVLNI regulations, Operators licence and HSE requirements.
Essential Criteria:
- A University degree or relevant professional qualification and at least 3 years' experience working in a senior management role. Or at least 5 years' experience working in a senior management role.
- At least 1 year's experience in people management, to include direct management of staff, governance, and organisational skills.
- Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Road Haulage and Certificate of Passenger Competence (CPC) Road Passenger Transport, or willingness to complete both certificates within 3 months of commencing post.
- Hold a current full driving licence valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment. This criteria will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved by the Trust which will permit them to carry out the duties of the post.
Strategic context for Transport Services Delivery:
- Legislative standards relating to delivery of Transport Services.
- Budgetary control including performance management.
- Specification of Freight and Passenger Vehicles.
- Working knowledge of the decision-making processes and business planning arrangements for the HPSS/NHS or equivalent large organisation.
- Competences as defined in the NHS Leadership Qualities Framework: Connecting our Service, Holding to Account, Engaging the Team.
Desirable Criteria:
- Hold a Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) Road Haulage and a Certificate of Passenger Competence (CPC) Road Passenger Transport. Preference will be given to candidates who present with both certificates.
