Salary: £30,000 - £40,000
As a project engineer you are responsible for the technical and engineering aspects of projects assigned to you. You will be assigned a work schedule, deliverables and meet these based on the customers business requirements and deadlines.
Responsibilities:
- Installing physical equipment such as switches, cabinets, access points
- Configuring network equipment
- Deploying/rebuilding/configuring end user equipment such as laptops/desktops
- Configuring and deploying cloud services such as Barracuda, M365, SentinelOne, RMM and other platform based software
- Applying best practice, auditing and making changes to live environments including but not limited to any line of business system such as AD, Intune, Exchange, SharePoint
- Configuring/deploying/installing other networking, security or IT hardware, software and systems
- Working alongside the Project Delivery lead and/or the Project Manager who will schedule works and manage customer expectations
Skills Required:
- Windows Server - Active Directory, DNS, DHCP migration, group policy, auditing, security, windows events
- Microsoft 365 Azure AD, Exchange, Teams, OneDrive/SharePoint migration, policies, security
- Microsoft 365 security Intune, conditional access, defender for cloud
- EDR or XDR solutions such as SentinelOne/Defender for endpoint
- Layer 2 Switch configuration VLANs, trunks, access ports, POE
- Racking, cabling, hardware installation eg firewall installation, cabinet patching and tidying
- Wifi Protocol general knowledge DNS records, email filtering/connectors
- Firewalls, access control and NAT
- Endpoint management policy enforcement, device control, MDM
- End user hardware including laptops and desktops software install, profile configuration
- WiFi configuration and deployment
Desirable Skills:
- SAN, NAS and DAS storage systems
- Wireless network survey, design and deployment
- Exchange Server on-premise migration
- File share security and migration
- SonicWall/other NGFW firewalls content filtering, IPS, IDS, etc
- Ubiquiti switching and wireless
- CCTV and VOIP systems managing low latency networking and security
- HyperV management and deployment, standalone and clusters
- SQL server basic installation and knowledge
- VMware ESXi understanding of standalone and VCentre management and security
- System and network monitoring tools eg Nagios, PRTG, HTTP GET/POST, ping, snmp etc
- Linux system administration deployment, management, security
- Web applications and web hosting systems WordPress, domain names, public DNS
