The purpose of this role is to reconcile supplier accounts each month, identifying discrepancies and investigating them through to resolution. This role will suit someone who genuinely enjoys solving puzzles—where the numbers don't quite line up, the answer isn't obvious, and getting to the truth takes persistence and curiosity. You'll be digging into inconsistencies, following the trail across systems and data sets, and piecing together the full story behind the figures. Beyond resolving issues, you'll have the opportunity to influence how the business operates—helping to refine processes so they better align with supplier billing and identifying opportunities to improve accuracy and efficiency. A key source of job satisfaction in this role comes from uncovering savings, identifying missed revenue, and making a tangible difference to the business.

Please note: This job is not suitable for candidates who see themselves in an accountancy role. Whilst the work of the Billing and Accounts teams dovetail, the departments are separate and require people with different but potentially transferable skill sets.

Responsibilities:

  • Reconcile supplier invoices, identifying and resolving items that don't balance
  • Investigate discrepancies by analysing data, systems and processes to find root causes
  • Work collaboratively with other departments and group companies to resolve issues
  • Raise and manage supplier disputes through to resolution
  • Identify weaknesses or inefficiencies in processes and recommend improvements
  • Maintain high levels of data accuracy and integrity
  • Carry out revenue checks to ensure billing is complete and correct
  • Support ongoing improvements to workflow and system processes

Skills Required:

  • Strong Excel skills
  • Highly analytical with a methodical and tenacious approach
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • A completer-finisher who takes ownership and follows tasks through
  • Confident communicator, able to explain findings and suggest solutions
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Benefits:

  • 21 Days Holiday – increasing to 22 days after 3 years and to 25 days after 5 years
  • Birthday Day Off
  • Buy Holiday Scheme
  • Career Development and Progression Opportunities
  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Enhanced Company Sick Pay
  • Discounted Retail Vouchers
  • Reduced Gym Membership
  • SCG Mobile Benefit
  • Employee Referral Bonus
  • Annual Salary Reviews
  • Pension Scheme
  • Onsite Canteen (offering free croissants and free freshly made soup daily)
  • Free On-Site Parking
  • Charity Events
